Port & Waterway Design

The planned port shoreline in Dalian is 370.8 km long.
An overall development pattern that focuses on the ports of “one island and three bays” (Dagushan Peninsula, and its surrounding Dayao Bay, Nianyu Bay and Dalian Bay) and the Changxing Island Harbor Industrial Zone and is supplemented by other ports (stations) will be developed for the Dalian Port.

The planned port shoreline in the port area covers a length of 87.7 km.
The non-port shoreline is 42.9 km long.

The port area is planned to cover a total area of nearly 20 km2 on land and 10 km2 on waters, and 33 large berths. The terminal shoreline covers a length of 11.5 km. The total length of breakwater is about 6,700 m.
Its throughput is around a hundred million tons.

Aiming at building a transportation system between islands and the land to boost the economic development of islands and the construction of well-off society, this plan covers major ports of Changhai County, Pikou Port, Jinshitan Port and the land-island transportation port of Zhuanghe.

The area is planned to accommodate 134 productive berths, and the capacity of terminals, container terminals and ro-ro terminals will be 247,720,000 tons, 13,580,000 TEU and 780,000 units respectively.

The area is planned to cover an area of 17.5 km2 on land,13.7 km2 on waters, a terminal shoreline of 19.83 km length, a total dredging volume of 96,910,000 m3 and a reclamation area of 28.6 km2.

The port area has a land area of 5.62 km2, a water area of 2.16 km2 and 32 planned berths (including 18 deep-water berths) with a handling capacity of 33,300,000 tons. The terminal shoreline covers a total length of 9,367 m, including the deep-water shoreline which is5,845 m in length.

The port area has a planned land area of 10.71 km2 and a total shoreline length of 4.65 km. It is planned that twenty-one 3,000- to 10,000-DWT general cargo berths will be provided with the estimated throughput reaching 3,200,000 tons and 6,500,000 tons in 2015 and 2020 respectively.

The port area has a planned land area of nearly 20 km2, a water area of nearly 4,100,000 m2, a planned terminal shoreline of nearly 11.7 km.

The shoreline of Port is about 4 km long.
4 berths are planned in the first phase with a handling capacity reaching 19,210,000 t/a.
11 berths are planned in the second phase with a handling capacity reaching 21,320,000 t/a.
3 berths are planned in the third phase with a handling capacity reaching 4,030,000 t/a.

Scale of construction:
21 container berths, bulk and general cargo berths and auxiliary ship berths, and their related land supporting facilities; the total length of the terminal: 6,350 m; the length of breakwater: 2,395 m; the length of bank revetment: 4,748 m; the occupied area: 6,800,000 m2; the annual throughput: 6,300,000 TEU for containers, 25,700,000 tons for bulk and general cargo.

Scale of construction
Four 2,000-DWT fishing vessel berths, one 20,000-DWT multi-purpose berth and one 3,000-DWT oil product berth are proposed and supporting facilities. The total area of construction land (Phase I) is 212,000 m2.
The total throughput of berths is 60,000t/a for fish discharging, 4,233TEU/a for containers, 60,000t/a for bulk cargoes and 200,000t/a for refined oil products.

Scale of construction:
The total area of construction land is 12.8 km2, including 5.4 km2 for reclamation and 7.3 km2 for land consolidation. The total length of permanent landscape revetment is 15.61 km and the volume of backfill is approximately 53,060,000 m3. The traffic network covers 83 km. In addition to the utility tunnel with a length of 6.51 km, the pipe network for water supply, power supply, heat supply, gas supply, drainage, sewage and communication will also be built.

Scale of construction:
11 refined oil and liquid chemical berths, including:
two 50,000-DWT refined oil berths (hydraulic structure designed for 100,000-DWT ships);
two 30,000-DWT refined oil and chemical berths (hydraulic structure designed for 50,000-DWT ships on 3# berth);
six 10,000-DWT refined oil and chemical berths;
one 5,000-DWT LPG and chemical berth.

Scale of construction:
The project mainly includes breakwater, bank revetment, terminal and channel engineering.
The total length of breakwater and bank revetment is 22 km.
The project includes four 20,000-DWT general cargo berths with the overall length of terminal reaching 764 m.
A 20,000-DWT one-way channel is planned with a length of approximately 21 km, a width of 135.0 m and a bottom elevation of -9.6 m.

Scale of construction:
One 10,000-DWT outfitting berth with a length of 255 m will be built. The shoreline of yacht dock is 371 m long. One 10,000-DWT slipway (gasbag slipway) with a length of 45 m will be built. The total area of the rear plant is 100,000 m2. One fiberglass boat workshop, one steel ship workshop and several office buildings, complex buildings and yacht dry dock stocks will cover an area of 43,000 m2.

Scale of construction:
The total length of channel is 9.1 km. The outer section and mid-section of the waterway can accommodate the one-way navigation of loaded 100,000-DWT oil carriers and 300,000-DWT oil carriers (ship-repairing), and the two-way navigation of 50,000-DWT ships; the inner section can accommodate the one-way navigation of 300,000-DWT oil carriers (repairing ships) and the two-way navigation of 50,000-DWT ships.

Scale of construction:
Container terminal: three 50,000-DWT container berths (hydraulic structure designed for 100,000-DWT ships), the total berth length: 999 m.
Ro-Ro terminal: one 50,000-GT ro-ro berth and one 70,000-GT ro-ro berth, the total berth length: 747 m.
General cargo terminal: two 100,000 general cargo berths, the total berth length: 559 m.

Scale of construction:
One 100,000-GT cruise berth (hydraulic structure designed for 150,000-GT ships) and a supporting passenger transportation center with a construction area of 17,500 m2 will be built. The berth is 419 m long with an annual capacity of 200,000 people. The approach channel is 6,340 m long and can accommodate the around-the-clock one-way navigation of 100,000-GT cruises. The total length of breakwater is 1,831 m.

Scale of construction:
The sea area for planning and argumentation is about 21.9 km2.
The construction area is about 19.1 km2.
