Engineering Survey of Dalian COSCO Shipyard 0.3Mt Floating Dock Project

The project site is located on the north side of Dalian Bay between Heshang Island and Mianhua Island (in the west) and adjacent to Liaoyu Group in the east. The working section of 0.3 Mt ship repair berth (length 394m) is 335m long, with the top width, top elevation and bottom elevation of 60m, 5.5m and -10.0m respectively, and the width of berthing waters at the apron is 120m.

The level-2 survey site of this Class-II project is a submarine plain, with a level-2 foundation and the Class B geotechnical engineering survey. Multiple survey methods and 23 boreholes are adopted to confirm the engineering geological conditions of the proposed site, determine the impacts of unfavorable geological phenomena on project construction, and propose the stable slopes of non-rock formation available for excavation.

The evaluations of seismic effect, liquefaction degree, field stability and seawater corrosion are based on the site survey data, with the bearing capacity of soil/rock layer, cast-in-place pile parameters and stable slopes of non-rock formation calculated to propose the rational dock structure.

The project is awarded the Liaoning Provincial Second Prize of Excellent Engineering Survey and Design.
