The construction of utility tunnel avoids the impacts and disturbance on public traffic and travelling caused by frequent road excavations for the laying and maintenance of underground pipelines, thus ensuring the complete and aesthetic road appearance with reduced costs of repeated pavement renovation and pipeline maintenance, as well as the pavement integrity and durability of all pipelines.

Located on the north side of Dalian University of Technology, this Underground Pipe Gallery crossing New Hongling Road and Lingchuan Road is about 233m in length with a cross-section of 7.5m×2.7m (B×H). The main contents of Underground Pipe Gallery design cover the construction process, structure, electrical engineering, fire protection and water drainage. The total investment is RMB 9.12 million.
